We have a thriving Music Department, led by Leigh Saunter, our Head of Music, providing our girls with every opportunity to develop their musical skills in whichever area their passion lies.

We proudly operate a peripatetic system where every students can learn any instrument they desire. From Reception to Year 13, students are able to develop and enhance their musical ability through a curriculum that is tailored to their individual strengths.

All girls receive an hour's music lesson a week from Reception to Year 8. Emphasis is on listening, performing and later composing, with students experiencing a wide range of instruments and styles from classic to pop music. We encourage our girls to be enquiring and experimental in their approach in order to enhance and develop their individual talents. A recent Year 9 group wrote, sang, recorded and produced 4 tracks that were later uploaded for sale online, receiving 45,000 downloads on YouTube to date.

Our AQA Music GCSE provides scope for any budding musician to flourish and our Music Technology A Level is proving more and more popular.

In addition to excellent results in both academic and practical examinations, our Music Department offers a varied range of extra curricular clubs and events that provide performance opportunities for all our girls throughout their time at Beaulieu:

Junior Orchestra and Choir - Our Junior Choir is a non-auditioned choir for any girls in Year 5 and 6. The girls regularly take part in the Music Eisteddfod, competing in the Primary School Choir Class.  The Junior Choir regularly sings at School Masses supporting the Chamber Choir and the girls were also asked to take part in a combined children's choir, singing in the Diamond Jubilee Gala Concert at Fort Regent during the celebrations.
